Welcome Back NYC. Things are a fair mess out there this weekend with the most significant change being the R train is running as its late night shuttle self all weekend. So as a result E and F trains are local, N trains run local via Whitehall. The D is also a mess. Customers have to transfer at W 4 St for all service (unless you want to go to 2 Ave). The exciting news is that the N will run on the D line from Coney to 36 St BUT it will will use the rarely used express track to do it! Of course, from there it runs super local so maybe that’s just a way of helping people out a little. It’s a beautiful day out there. Head to an area beach or park and enjoy a day without rain! Happy Tracks New York!
FRIDAY UPDATE: Ok, I had the 2, 3, 4 change explained to me. Trains are not terminating at Atlantic and Franklin but going express. Since all trains are going express there is no service at either direction at Bergen, Grand Army Plaza, and Eastern Pkwy. But for those traveling beyond those stations, there is no need to panic. Also, I missed Sunday morning’s 7 train change: No trains between Queensboro and Times Sq Sunday until Noon. Cheers everyone!
Welcome back NYC! So this weekend is going to find a lot of you scratching your heads on the Lexington Ave Line. The 5 is not running, which is by far the easiest part to understand. Then the 4 runs express in Manhattan, except uptown between City Hall and Union Sq where both the 4 and 6 run express (though very slow). Some 4 trains terminate at Bowling Green but they all terminate at Atlantic Ave. The advisory does say that you can transfer from the shuttle bus at Franklin Ave to a 4 train, but I suspect that there might be only 3 train service between Utica and Franklin Aves. Not only that, the F train runs on the C again this weekend. Sorry Culver Line residents, looks like you’ll be taking the G again. Oh, and the L terminates at Bdwy Jct. Sorry Canarsie. Other than that, things are quiet. It should be a nice weekend, get out to Coney Island or Orchard Beach and enjoy. Happy Tracks New York!
SATURDAY UPDATE: The R trains are not extended to 179th St anymore and the Franklin Ave Shuttle is running normally. Also, late night E trains run express going towards Jamaica from Queens Plaza to Roosevelt Ave-Jackson Heights.
Welcome Back NYC. It’s a busy weekend out there. Lots of changes to be aware of, especially in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is faced with the F on the C, The G on the F, and the D on the N. However, at least the L train is running normal. So everyone check the map out this week and enjoy the weekend. Happy Tracks New York!
FRIDAY UPDATE: There is a major but short-lived D train change Saturday. D trains will not run between Pacific and Herald Square but only between 10 AM and 3 PM. The Grand St Shuttle will even run during this time. I almost feel like it will take longer to transition everything than to actually complete any work but the MTA pushes onward valiantly regardless.
Welcome back one and all! So what to Park Slopers think of the new G train service? Do you appreciate the single ride to great cultural institutions like BAM and PS 1, great nightlife in Williamsburg, and fine kielbasas in Greenpoint? or is it simply demoralizing to hear that train coming only to realize that it won’t get you to work? Though given the frequency of G train service my guess is not too many neighborhood residents will ever feel the elation/dejection of seeing that Crosstown Local coming round the bend. On to this weekend: There are a fair number of major changes with no 5 trains between GCT and Bowling Green, no 1 trains between 242nd and 137th, and no L trains between Lorimer and Myrtle (again). However, there aren;t to many trivial inconveniences. That’s the MTA, only incoveniencing people in major ways. Regardless, enjoy the weekend and Happy Tracks New York!
Welcome Back New York! I’m sorry for the lack of an update last week. I was out of town and forgot to post detailing that I wasn’t around last weekend so my humblest apologies. Well my first weekend back on the job is not a busy one. With the July 4th holiday, the MTA has kept a skeleton crew of workers doing some late night work on the Queens Blvd and Canarsie lines and an express run on the 5th for the 7 train. The most exciting news is the extension of the G train to Church Ave beginning Sunday. While it will eventually herald a painful closure of the viaduct stations, for the moment one can’t argue with increased service of any kind. So for one weekend, Huzzah for the G train! Happy Independence Day and Happy Tracks New York!
DISCLAIMER: The MTA will make changes to train service based on the
second-to-second needs of the dispatchers and conductors, as well as
making full day changes without informing the public.
