Welcome back New Yorkers! This weekend is bringing an interesting slate of advisories and some very unique adjustments to the system. For one, the C train will be terminating at World Trade Center in lieu of the E which will continue its 5-weekend escapade to Herald Square. And for the first time since I started to doing these maps, there will be a dormant line at Stillwell Ave. There will be no Q train service between Coney Island and Prospect Park! That’s a lot of shuttle buses. All this is addition to no 4 trains in Brooklyn and other juicy changes. Dig in everyone, the map is a click away. Happy Tracks New York!
Welcome back NYC. I am thrilled to have the weekend off and be able to enjoy some beautiful weather and some football and I hope all of you can be so lucky. Of course, you wouldn’t consider yourself lucky if you have to travel to the financial district this weekend because there is no service downtown on the 1, E, or downtown R trains. Basically, this weekends map is a repeat of last weekends (though Bushwick residents will be happy for a return of full J service). This is also hopefully the last weekend for the E train service changes. Best of luck out there and happy tracks New York!
Welcome back NYC. It’s one of those crazy weekends that makes living in New York so overwhelming. Friday of course marks eight years since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the city will pause to remember its heroes. After that somber start, the weekend kicks into high gear with Jay-Z playing the Garden Friday night, Fashion Week kicking off in Bryant Park, the VMAs at Radio City, and the celebration on the 12th honoring the 400th anniversary of Henry Hudson claiming Manhattan island for the Dutch. It should be a heck of a weekend. And in case your plans take you out into the city, consult the map below to figure out how to get there. Happy Tracks New York!
Friday Night Corrections: I am in NJ for a wedding and don’t have access to my computer and Illustrator. Unfortunatly, I will just have to list the things I didn’t get right in my rush to get to Jersey this morning:
J train runs between Metropolitan Ave and Broad St replacing the M.
The R train does not run in Brooklyn at all on Sunday. The last stop is Whitehall St.
All trains bypass Eastern Pkwy on Monday because of the parade.
Sorry for the non-updated map. I hope everyone makes it out there!
Happy Labor Day everyone. Don’t forget to go caroling at our local union hall or however one celebrates Labor Day. You can always go down to Union Square and hang around where the country’s first Labor Day was celebrated. Interestingly, the place was already called Union Square when that went down in 1882. Regardless, the changes are few but major. No 1 trains between 14 St and South Ferry, No E trains between 5 Ave and WTC, No J trains between Myrtle and Broadway Jct, No R trains between Whitehall and 36 St (Sunday only), and no M trains at all! Trains will run on a Sunday schedule on Monday with no service changes except those relating to the E train. So the E will terminate at Herald Sq on Labor Day. The E and F will also run local between Manhattan and Roosevelt Ave on Monday. Enjoy the holiday and Happy Tracks New York!
DISCLAIMER: The MTA will make changes to train service based on the
second-to-second needs of the dispatchers and conductors, as well as
making full day changes without informing the public.
